BRUSSELS — The suspected killer of step-sisters Stacy and Nathalie continues to deny his guilt despite mounting evidence linking him to the crime.

And as he left the Liège Court on Friday, suspect Abdallah Ait Oud called out to assembled journalists.

"Find the culprits, I am innocent," he said.

It was the first time that the only suspect in the case had directly spoken to the media.
He did that shortly before stepping into the federal police vehicle that was to take him back to the Lantin jail.

But Liège Court decided there was sufficient evidence to extend Ait Oud's remand detention for another three months.

After the court hearing, the suspect's lawyer, Jean-Dominique Franchimont, confirmed several pieces of evidence gathered against his client.

He confirmed that fibres from a blanket of Ait Oud's former girlfriend were found on the clothes of the two girls and the suspect.

The step-sisters Stacy and Nathalie disappeared from a Liège street party on the night of 9 June. Their bodies were found in a stormwater drain on 28 June.

Both girls had been strangled and one of them was sexually abused.
