BELGIUM - Belgian boxer Sugar Jackson has successfully defended his welterweight (under 66 kilograms) European title for the fourth time.
The Ghanaian born Belgian beat Viktor Plotnikov of Ukraine in 12 rounds. This was the first time that the 30-year-old Plotnikov fought outside his country.
Jackson had a good read on his opponent's style. Every round Jackson used the same tactic. First offstandish, the Belgian was the dominant one in the fight.
Plotnikov was tough and remained standing though. Jackson was clearly tired by the last rounds.
No knock-out, but Sugar Jackson won on points and the jury unequivocally and unanimously declared Jackson winner of his fourth European title fight.
