WASHINGTON - Hillary Clinton basked in victories in key primary states Tuesday, but conceded that her battle with Barack Obama for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination is far from over.
"Tonight is your night. Tonight is America's night," she told wildly cheering supporters in New York as results came in on Super Tuesday, the biggest-ever single day of US presidential preference polls. "Together, we are going to take back America."
With California, the night's top prize, still too close to call, Clinton had won fewer states than Obama, but more delegates to the party's nominating convention to be held this summer. Still, Obama remained in strong contention.
"I also want to congratulate Senator Obama for his victories tonight, and I look forward to continuing our campaign and our debates about how to leave this country better off for the next generation," Clinton said.
