December 2007 - 3,000 people marched through the streets of Brussels on Saturday afternoon to protest against global warming. The demonstration was organised by the Climate Coalition an umbrella group that brings together 70 social and environmentalist organisations.
Trades unionists also took part in the march, as did politicians from the Flemish and Francophone greens and the progressive regionalist party Spirit. (VRT) The protesters in Brussels demanded that the Belgian and foreign politicians currently attending the International Climate Conference in Bali come up with an ambitious plan to combat global warming.
One of their demands is that the industrialised nations cut their carbon emission by 80% between now and 2050.
The march was followed by a special Climate Concert in the Royal Circus in Central Brussels
