The long weekend with beautiful sunny weather drew masses to the Belgian coast.

BELGIUM - The Belgians flocked to the coast last weekend to enjoy the first summer-like days of 2008.
The long weekend, with the beautiful weather was a perfect combination.
The fact that the first of May and Ascension Day happened to fall on the same day this year was fortunate for the hotel/restaurant sector.
This, together with the gorgeous weather, made for an absolute top weekend for the tourism sector all over Belgium.
The hotels at the coast reported about 90 percent occupancy.
Many people also took day trips to various venues around Belgium. There was also inevitable traffic congestion accompanying a busy top tourism weekend.
