Kortrijk do it again

KV Kortrijk are through to the final eight for the second year running.

They beat their local rivals KV Kortrijk after a goal from Ernest Webnje Nfor during the second period of extra time.

Zulte Waregem had taken the lead in the first half through Loris Reina but Kortrijk equalised on 75 minutes to force the match to extra time.

After Mouscron, Zulte Waregem has become Kortrijk's second first division cup scalp of the season.

AA Gent win by single goal

A poor first half saw Mons look the better side in Saturday's only all-first division cup tie againt AA Gent.

If the first half was bad, the second half was even worse with best chance coming when the Mons defender Adriano Duarte almost deflected a Dominic Foley shot past the Mons keeper Frédéric Herpoel, who himself is a former AA Gent player.

In the end it was substitute Gill Vermouth that sealed it for the Buffaloes with a goal in the second period of extra time.

OHL lose penalty shoot out

Second division promotion hopefuls Oud Heverlee Leuven threw away a two goal lead to be knocked out by first division Germinal Beerschot in a penalty shoot out.

The match was goalless after 90 minutes.

OHL took the lead six minutes into extra time through Ruytinx and extended their lead twelve minutes later through Janssens.

However, Ederson pulled one back for the Rats just a minute later and Malki made all square a minute before time.

Germinal Beerschot came out on top in the penalty shoot out that ended 3-1 to the Antwerp club.

Sunday afternoon's action

IIn the first of the two cup matches in Sunday afternoon, first division Dender EH beat third division Eendracht Aalst 2-1.

Eendracht Aalst took a surprise first half lead through Cedric Bobo.

Dender EH started the second half strongly and drew level on 48 minutes through Henri Munyaneza.

The first division side finally sealed victory against their local rivals six minutes from time with a goal by Norman Sylla.

Sunday's other match between Roeselare and Sporting Charleroi was a real nail-biter.

Sporting Charleroi took the lead on 12 minutes through Joseph Akpala.

The Zebras seemed to be heading for the quarter finals, but an 89th minute goal by Roeselare's Kenny Thompson saw the game go into extra time.

Charleroi took the lead again through Fabien Camus on 109 minutes only for Björn Smits to bring Roeselare level just two minutes later.

In the end the match was decided by a penalty shoot out that ended 5-4 to Roeselare.
