BRUSSELS — Belgian rail NMBS-SNCB received 13,347 complaints in 2004 from disgruntled passengers, 800 more than in 2003.

Train travel such as delays or missed connections particularly irked commuters, accounting for 3,002 complaints in 2004, news agency Belga reported on Monday.
 
Public Enterprises State Secretary Bruno Tuybens said the five most common complaints were train travel (3,002), ticket sales (2,867), products (2,433), quantity of trains (1,906) and information (1,081).

Tuybens said the complaints relating to train travel mainly involved timetabling and train capacity. Issues such as comfort, cleanliness, safety or disabled services sparked fewer complaints.

Besides the more than 13,000 complaints, the NMBS-SNCB also received 7,000 reactions ranging from questions to congratulatory feedback.

The statistical analysis of the delivery of services set up in 2005 is still being processed.
